M on Tumblr {Ottawa Wedding Photographer and the New York Times}

Just an example of the amazing visuals on my M on Tumblr Microblog
I woke up this morning to an interesting news story on the launch of the New York Times new micro blog T magazine on Tumlr. T magazine is a visual tour through of all the wonderful visuals included in the New York Times Style Section.

I couldn't think of a better way than to introduce M on Tumblr this lovely Spring day. My microblog serves to inspire me and to remind me of what pleases my eye. On my Tumblr micro blog that I have been quietly building over the recent weeks during pauses in the day, I have been able to compile the things that both inspire my brand, my work, and my business. It is a visual journey through moods, admiration, inspirations, editorials and highlights from the visual artists I admire so much.

While it has little to do with weddings specifically, it has everything to do with how I love seeing the world. You will see that I have posted my personal work there as well, but I invite you to explore M on Tumblr primarily as an insight into my style.

Ottawa Wedding Photographer goes to the Ball - Hilton Lac Leamy

I had the wonderful pleasure of attending and capturing the spirit of the Snowflake Ball at the Hilton Lac Leamy on April 2nd, 2011. Inspired by the opulence and charm of the Carnevale di Venenzia. The enchanting ball was glamorous, elegant and not least of all romantic.
Amidst a backdrop of a brilliant venetian sunset, maple, lychee and sunset martinis were served with canapes while being entertained by some of the wonderful actors from Odysee Theatre presenting a carnevale-inspired performance.
The Venetian masked guests were escorted into the main ballroom by town crier Daniel Richer  and were welcomes by Sandra Blaikie the Master of Ceremonies. and Yvonne Jason The Ball co-chair.  Guests were treated to the wonderful sounds of Midnite Starr, acclaimed in Grace Ormonde's Platinum vendors, was an amazing live band from Toronto that played everything from the most recent dance music to the earliest Jazz. They were truly incredible and I would highly recommend them for any event you might have.
The Hilton Lac Leamy Chef prepared a gourmet Italian-inspired meal that was as mouth watering as it was beautiful and a delectable dessert bar at midnight.
The atmosphere was created by the very talented Hannahpaul who created the scene with floral design and decor that embodied the whole event in the creamy warmth of a venetian sunset with classic and luxurious centre pieces of clustered pink, orange and blush roses. These were accented with orange and pink linens which were the perfect compliment to the operatic backdrop of blue Venetian windows housing a setting sun and, later in the evening, a starry sky. Axial lighting and productions brought the scene alive.
All in....it was one of the most enchanting evenings I have ever had and as close as I have come to the experience of the Carnivale di Venezia.

p.s. Truffle Treasures and Bubbies Bicotti treats were enjoyed alongside my morning coffee the next day as a remembrance that it wasn't all a dream :)

Enjoy! Thank you Mikhela Jason Alboim and her co-chairs for the opportunity to bring my eye to this beautiful event!
