{Behind the Scenes Montreal Boudoir Session} Ottawa Wedding Photographers

If you have been following the blog, you might remember about a month ago I was in Montreal for a boudoir marathon and also do a promotional shoot with Tania Semper of efashionista.ca - a luxury lifestyle guide.

I am pleased to share with you a peek into the behind the scenes fun of getting ready for a boudoir shoot - hair, make-up, primping and all. This was even more fun than it looks! And..yes it really was mine and Tania's birthday- How else would I spend it...but doing what I love...photography!

I am so pleased to announce that we have upcoming boudoir photography sessions in April in Toronto and Ottawa on April 23rd and 24th, 2011 in Toronto and April 29th and 30th, 2011 in Ottawa. 

Although even before I could get this up on the blog, April 30th is now sold out :( but there are still sessions available on April 29th in Ottawa. Boudoir Sessions starting at $375.

Boudoir Photographer - HIghlights and Behind the Scenes - What's boudoir like?

I mentioned in a few posts earlier that we were doing an elegant boudoir shoot with efashionista.ca in a boutique hotel in Montreal. I loved the beautiful vintage-inspired lingerie from Toad Lillie -pure silk elegance and charm!

Not only did we have a wonderful boudoir photography session, but Christian Suarez of Toronto took this promotional video which shows me in action and shooting a boudoir photography session. A lot of fun and a great sneak peek for you ladies!

{Montreal Boudoir Photography Session} Ottawa & Montreal Boudoir Photographer

I was so excited to work with the lovely Tania Semper of efashionista to promote my latest boudoir marathon in Montreal. It was also my birthday and Tania's that weekend so it was just a little extra special and we had a great deal of fun with the make-up, hair and video professionals that we worked with this weekend. I can't wait to see how the video promotion works out- I am sure it will be fun and stylish.

{Ottawa Wedding and Boudoir Photographer} My first video blog -oh my!

I am so pleased to be able to work with clients on destination weddings in Canada, the US and the Caribbean and on boutique boudoir sessions in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. And the clients that I am able to meet are wonderful given that many times I meet them for the first time on their wedding day or when they arrive for their boudoir sessions. So, upon the encouragement of a good friend I have put together my first video blog. It is my hope that the video blogs will help my clients gain a familiarity with me even before we meet. If I can get past my nervousness and start to be less "quirky" on camera, I am sure that this will be a great ice breaker :)

It's not easy to talk about yourself, so in this video, I take the oppourtunity to thank my 2011 clients and some of the excellent people I have had the oppourtunity to work with recently.  In addition, I hope to share with you with a little something that inspires me in my work.

If there is something you really would like to know more about, please let me know and I'll add it into my next video blog.

I will apologise for the number of times that I say amazing and awesome...and thanks for bearing with the first go at this...thank actually took about 15 takes! :)

{Miss G- Boudoir Session} Ottawa Montreal Toronto Kingston Boudoir Photographers

Miss G came to me to create a special gift of boutique boudoir photography for her BF who was moving to another city. While they are apart, she has been able to ensure he won't forget one beautiful inch of her. I have a feeling he won"t stay away any longer than is necessary {wink}.

Like many boudoir clients, she was a little self conscious and more than a little nervous, but as many of my clients tell me, they soon feel at ease with me and the camera through some fun conversation. And, typically, all it takes is a peek at the back of my camera of some of the stunning images and they are moving through the session with confidence they didn't know they had- and what could be sexier than confidence?

This is an absolutely beautiful session. Here are some of the lovely images that Miss G has been gracious enough to give permission to share...the rest are for his eyes only!

{Miss D Boutique Boudoir- Thompson Hotel} - Toronto Ottawa Montreal Boudoir Photographers

There are so many great reasons to have a Boutique Boudoir session. It is a pure celebration of yourself at a certain point in time and can be a wonderful way to mark the occasional. This was no less the case for Miss D, who is embarking on a year long adventure and journey to renew and be closer to embracing her life in a new way. With travel and exploration high on her list, these photos not only capture her beautiful energy but will forever mark this time of renewal for her. Boudoir photography in so many ways is a very special gift we can give to ourselves...

We christened the beautiful Thompson Hotel as the very first boudoir photographers to get into and scope out this new boutique hotel in Toronto. It was amazing and hope to shot there once again...maybe for a wedding reception next time. I will continue to find the next new and amazing location...just stay tuned. Spring Sessions are not too far away. Special thanks to the staff at the Thompson for going waaay out of their way to hook us up with the grand suite and to Miss Lori Dyck for hair and make-up.

{Miss M - Boudoir} Ottawa Wedding and Boudoir Photographer

Boudoir is a beautiful genre of photography and it is one that I absolutely adore. For me, Boudoir is a beautiful and intimate portrait of yourself and there is a special interplay between subject and photographer that is essential for my client to relax, be herself and in the end, really see herself in the final boudoir portrait. It is one thing to look like you are "putting it out there" for someone else all sex kitten like (which too is fun), but it is far more powerful image in my opinion to be able to capture the authentic beauty and vulnerability of my subjects that only a lover may witness...this is magic. I am proud to say, that I rarely touch up my images but rather use light and camera angles to create the most flattering look. What I love most about this is that my clients and truly see themselves as they are - stunning- and not feel that they are looking at a "doctored" version of themselves that doesn't feel authentic.
Here are some sneak peeks from Miss M's recent Boutique Boudoir Session at the Thompson Hotel in Toronto.  Miss M was in for hair and make-up bright and early and with her Jimmy Choo heels and a suitcase of Victoria Secret in hand...she was stunning and we had a blast. For Miss M, we are creating an elegant and sexy album that will be an amazing gift and surprise for her groom. Here are just a couple of images from her session...but there are so many more...

{Me, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo and the Thompson Hotel for Boutique Boudoir} Toronto Montreal Ottawa Boudoir Photographer

Our recent Boutique Boudoir Session in the exquisite Thompson Boutique Hotel in The Fashion and Design district was amazing. With floor to ceiling windows in our deluxe King suite, the ladies were treated to morning mimosas, fruit and coffee to begin the two hour sessions, which started with hair and make-up by Lori Dyck.
There is more to come...but here were our gorgeous surroundings to get a feel. Honestly if I were going to plan my wedding all over again, it would be on the rooftop of this hotel nearby the infinity pool with the view of the CN tower and the Skydome...stunning...stay tuned for the upcoming seak peeks of some of the amazing clients photographed for these sessions...

{a bit about me Thursday} Ottawa Wedding Photographers

What girl doesn't need a day dedicated just to herself? Yeah would be nice...but right now, in the height of a very busy wedding season, there will be none of that for me. Instead, I thought I might take a moment to connect, if only to end my blogging dryspell. I have had some wonderful weddings this summer, from large flamboyantly joyous ones to warm intimate and ...dare I say many have left me bleary eyed...Love is a beautiful thing. My favorite destination wedding to date has got to be my recent European wedding in the Czech Republic with Katie and Jiri...I have always wanted to travel there and it was an amazing occasion. While in Prague, I took advantage of the rain to get up at 5:30 am to capture an image of the St. Charles Bridge with only myself and a lone spectator with an umbrella there. Anyone who has visited the bridge before, knows what a hive of activity it can be and how rare a moment this can be...

As of this 3rd week of August:
1. FAVORITE SONG: Stereo Love by Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina - I have purchased all available remixes available on itunes.
2. SHAMELSS PLUG: I suspect Stereo Love will be rocking the next Boudoir Marathon in Toronto on September 26th...1 Spot left! psst...call me  ;)
2. STATUS: I have 6 weddings left to shoot in 2010.
3. PERSONAL: I crashed my 1999 VW, it is a total loss and need to buy a new car
4. WEAKNESS: I succumbed to my weaknesses for awesome glass once more and purchased the Canon 100 mm f 2.8 IS lens which I have been lusting after for several months...Look out details...here I come. I am now lusting after a 35mm prime lens (I have a sick obsession with primes)
5. DISLIKE: I really dislike KD...this is a non food.
6. LIKE: Clients that truly appreciate the hours of time I invest in the work I deliver to them-doing things well really takes time...thank you to all of you ;)
7. PEEVE: while I love videographers and appreciate their work...I so hate it when they are in my shot and they are wearing bold stripes.
8. FAVORITE WEDDING MAGs: I subscribe to both the Western and Eastern Canada editions... Wedluxe - The DayDream Issue www.wedluxe.com
9. RANDOM: I didn't know how much fun mustaches on a stick could be until Marianne and Rob's vintage garden party wedding last week...check out Whisker Works if you too think they are fun! On the topic of moustaches...you must see the Stunt Double Circus sometime ...often seen busking the Byward Market- Amazing.
10. AMAZING: My new favorite pair of jeans by Hudson Jeans...killer. I heart Hudson...XO

Boudoir sessions can be a huge boost to a woman's confidence. It is one of the most rewarding things for me as a photographer to see the moment a woman totally trusts me to see her as more beautiful than she can imagine herself, and for her to see herself as truly beautiful in her images...it's awesome.
Many of my clients want to create boudoir images for someone special, but in other cases they purely want these images for themselves.Thank you to my wonderful client for letting me share some of her intimate images with you.

Boudoir photography is an amazing way to boost your confidence and give something special to the partner that has everything. While many of my brides wish to have a session to give their groom a very special present on their wedding day, many of my clients are married and want to do something totally different and give an unexpected gift.
